Prevention Of Leakage At Hydraulic Quick Adapter

May 09, 2024

In hydraulic systems, both metal pipe adapters and hose adapters are prone to leakage. For sleeve type pipe adapters, leakage is mostly caused by the pipeline being subjected to significant external or impact forces, causing the sleeve to loosen or the pipe end face to deform. At this time, it is necessary to check whether the sleeve is out of round, whether the blade is damaged, whether the pipe end is intact, and the degree of compression of the sleeve nut. At the same time, it is also necessary to eliminate external forces on the pipeline. For flared pipe adapters, leakage is often caused by excessive expansion, unsatisfactory quality, or multiple disassembly, resulting in deformation or cracks in the expansion. In this case, the front end can be cut off and re expanded. If a male and female cone top pressure is used for sealing, most of the leakage is due to damage to the two cone surfaces. Grinding sand can be used to grind the cone surfaces.
In some situations where a "о" ring is used to seal against the end face or outer diameter, there are several reasons for leakage: aging or deformation of the "о" ring causes leakage; The assembly of the "о" ring is not in place, causing unevenness in the connection between two planes or cutting of the "о" ring, resulting in leakage; The "о" ring is not compacted, resulting in insufficient elastic deformation and leakage; The sealing groove of the "о" ring is too deep, causing leakage. In this regard, it is necessary to reselect the "о" ring with the same outer diameter and a thicker cross-section. The sealing surface with a stop groove can also be cut or ground to reduce the depth of the stop groove, so that the "о" ring has sufficient elastic deformation (the compression amount should generally be between 0.35-0.65mm).
For leaks at pipe adapters using oil resistant rubber sheets, wool felt, soft steel cardboard, combined sealing gaskets or sealants, regardless of the material used, the sealing components should first be checked for damage, deformation, aging, and excessive roughness, and then corresponding measures should be taken.
